OG, EG Wings and Alliance top four in group A

The International 6 group stage ended for the teams that fought in Group A. Alliance pulled a great upset versus Evil Geniuses in the last game of the group to secure a top four finish and an upper bracket seed in the TI6 Main Event.
OG and Evil Geniuses started the day already with a comfortable lead in group A leaving the rest of the teams still fighting for the last two spots that would have secured the upper bracket start in the main event. After a promising start from Na’Vi who took a clean 2-0 against Wings Gaming, their next series went south as they lost both games versus OG. The two times Major Champions, OG finished the group stage in pole position in group A which brings them the luxury of choosing their next opponent from the 3rd-4th place finishers in group B.

Alliance had a shaky day 3 start after they scored only a draw against Escape Gaming, but surely made up with the last series of the day in group A, against Evil Geniuses. The first game was an insanely back and forth battle where the Swedes drafted both Lone Druid and Broodmother, a game that prolonged over 60 minutes and ended in a very dramatic manner featuring a EG wipe while they were taking down Alliance’s throne. Losing the game one, EG also lost the first seed from Group A and perhaps annoyed by the manner the game slipped through their fingers on the back of poor decisions, they went into game two heavily shaken and lost it in under 20 minutes, giving Alliance the upper bracket start on 8th of August on KeyArena.

Unfortunately for TnC, the group stage ends with them seeded in the lower bracket despite their amazing run through the first three days. They delivered some of the biggest upsets taking 2-0 victories against the two Chinese teams in the group, Wings and LGD and they ended their games with yet another 2-0 win, against Escape Gaming. However their efforts were not enough and will now fight the first lower bracket round in a best of one scenario.
