Faceless: Singaporean iceiceice returns home to form a SEA team with Black^
After 3 years in China Daryl 'iceiceice' Koh has assembled his A-team on home soil in Singapore called Team Faceless. A team which gathers together many familiar faces.
Team Faceless is a collection of experienced players from years gone by. Black^, Nutz and Xy- have all had their time in the spotlight previously in their careers, but for various reasons have not made it back to the top. They all also have a connection to captain Daryl 'iceiceice' Koh.
Daryl 'iceiceice' Koh (Captain)
Dominik 'Black^' Reitmeier
Anucha 'jabbbbb / Kaneki' Jirawong
Jeng Yih 'WarNutZ' Wong
Toh Wai 'xy-' Hong
Toh Wai 'xy-' Hong was part of Daryl 'iceiceice' Koh's last Singaporean team Zenith back in 2012-2013, and has not competed for the last 3 years. Fellow Singaporean Jeng Yih 'WarNutZ' Wong may also ring a bell, and that's because he was part of the MVP Phoenix team that caused such a stir at last year's International. After a year living in Korea he moved back to Singapore and left the team after TI5, and he too has not been active aside from a few cameos as a stand-in. Meanwhile Black^ was iceiceice's team-mate in China from 2014-2015.
The only unknown factor in the Team Faceless equation is Anucha 'jabbbbb / Kaneki' Jirawong, a Thai player who has only competed for one team Signature.Trust. According to sources it appears both Black^ and Jabz have got a move to Singapore on the cards, which would mean all five players should be competing from there in the future. This is of course nothing new for Black^ who has moved to China (LGD.int, CIS, VG), Malaysia (Fnatic) and NA (Team Tinker) in the past to propel his career forward.
This will of course not be the first nor the second time Black^ and iceiceice have been team-mates. Back in the days of Team DK Dominik 'Black^' Reitmeier played as a stand
-in for Xu 'BurNing' Zhilei, an experience which would later lead to iceiceice recommending him for the new Vici Gaming line-up post TI4. Vici Gaming was Black^'s big break, and the highlight of his career in Dota 2 so far.
He competed for the Chinese team from August 2014 to February 2015, where he played alongside his new Team Faceless team-mate Daryl 'iceiceice' Koh.
During the six months Vici Gaming won three consecutive LAN finals; i-League, The Summit 2 and ESL One New York. His final appearance for the team was at the Dota Asian Championships, where VG took 2nd place, but he was unceremoniously removed from the team after the event in favour of Chen 'Hao' Zhihao. Black^ stated in a DotaBlast interview half a year later that he held no grudges, but since then he has yet to find a stable team, and instead appeared at TI5 and TI6 as a panelist. Team Faceless could be his return to form.
"He did improve overall as a player and in this aspect as well (language communication) but he still wasn't standing out at times when we needed him to especially when me and super gets a bad start at the lane," said iceiceice in his frank AMA around the time of Black^'s removal from VG.
Despite his departure from VG, iceiceice and Black^ remained friends, and now with iceiceice finally returning home after 3 years competing in China for Team DK, Vici Gaming and EHOME, they will be reunited under Team Faceless.
